Hellenic Center

The Hellenic Center is a non-profit organization (a legal entity) established in 1974. It is comprised by eight Hellenic organizations (AHEPA Chapter 383; The Cretan Association Of Greater Washington D.C.; Epirotic Society Of Washington D.C.; The Hellenic Society Prometheas; Laconian Society Of Washington D.C.; The Pancretan Association of America; Roumeliotes Of Metro Washington D.C.; The Vourvoura Society) with the objective to own a building to house the offices of its member organizations and to provide the facilities for cultural, social, educational and philanthropic activities.

Library

The Hellenic Center ("HC") maintains a library available to members interesting in Hellenic themes. The Board of Trustees has appointed a Library Committee ("LC") to organize the library and supervise its function. For this purpose LC solicits the donation of books and other materials related to Hellenic culture. Donations should meet the following criteria:

  • - Be written in Greek or English;
  • - They should be in good condition;
  • - Their subject matters should pertain to Greek culture, arts and history; and
  • - Upon their donation, the books become property of the HC, through which the LC has the sole authority to decide about their acceptance of rejection.

The LC also welcomes the donation of music CDs and DVDs that meet the same criteria as the books (condition, language, subject matter, etc).
